Montrose Parkway and Observation Drive

Letter to County Council, March 7, 2018

Dear Council President Riemer and Council members,

Action Committee for Transit asks you to delete Observation Drive Extended and Montrose Parkway East from the CIP.

Both roads would cost an enormous amount of money -- money that should instead be spent on 21st transportation projects that would improve neighborhoods and support the county's stated commitments to reducing greenhouse gases and increasing mobility through transit. In addition, the route for Observation Drive Extended runs over and along the stream valley of Little Seneca Creek (a tributary of Little Seneca Lake) and crosses into the Ten Mile Creek watershed; it also runs over the MCPS Clarksburg bus depot and Clarksburg Elementary School.

Neither road should be built.
